April 14-15, 2017 – Sarasota, FL Toronto, Canada & Ft. Atkinson, WI – While some may argue that traveling is taboo on the Sabbath, I counter that traveling on the Sabbath to celebrate family, friends, shows, and good eats Weinberger Style, we commemorate the Sabbath.
Steve flew to Ft. Atkinson, WI and met Gabe, Erin’s boyfriend, for the closing of Beauty and the Beast at the Fireside Theater. They celebrated at Graze, a farm to table restaurant in Madison.
Meanwhile, Jake and I flew direct from Sarasota, FL to Toronto, Canada for a Cabaret Soiree at the Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts starring our dear friend, broadway actor and Ruby’s dad, Darrin Baker. Our flight landed after midnight and we ubered with a Pakistani man in the driver’s seat, and somehow we stumbled on the conversation that #45 was bad for our country. Ironically, two months earlier, the New York Times released this article: Uber CEO to Leave Trump Advisory Council after Criticism. We bid him adieu and rang the security bell for Darrin to open the doors. There we were to cheer Darrin in his show, “A Work in Progress.”
Darrin was quite busy piecing together the last minute singing rehearsals for the coming show. Jake and I were serenaded with pre show warm-ups.
While Darrin continued to prep, we spent Shabbat with Liz Gabison and her two kids at Yorkdale Mall lunching and watching Jake (virtualjake) test the new virtual reality game at the Microsoft Store which I could barely walk in as I am an Apple gal.
As Shabbat ended, Jake and I became enmeshed in the audience and surrounded by a sold out crowd. It was remarkable. Thank you Darrin and Liz. Shabbat Shalom.
