Septemer 9, 2016 – Lido Beach, FL

The props for this Shabbat include 2 paddle boards, 2 paddles, 2 floats, 1 table, 1 orange tablecloth, 10 beach chairs, 1 beach type sheet, 4 large and medium-sized ice chests filled with delicious vegan and not so vegan Shabbat delicacies such as pasta veggie salad, avocado salad, bean/corn salad, chicken Steve-style, Sam’s special schnitzel, and other homemade varieties. Of course, we packed our candles, a lighter, a kiddush cup and two challahs. We landed all of our gear on Lido Beach for a special outdoor birthday celebration. Tali, my birthday twin and I had wanted to play on the beach with our friends, husbands and kids! It was a glorious moment as Erin, Gabe, and Jake (our kids) were happily in attendance. The Warrens and Shecklers joined us. Sam and Tali got their paddle board fix as well as a special float pull! We reminisced about our Club Med trip 11 years ago. Sky Banfill joined us for a quick visit. The Pelicans and seagulls were uproarious and crazily feeding. The waves were lapping gently. A rain squall passed, then a rainbow appeared. The sun set as the moon rose. We passed the carrot cake birthday Tupperware around like a treasured jewel! It was a just right end to a birthday party; a just right beginning to Shabbat; and a spectacular moment to share with my friends, husband and kids!
